From BYOC web pages:

If you want one pedal that covers everything from vintage distortion to boutique overdrive....the BYOC mouse has got it covered.

The big box RAT has been reissued as the "vintage RAT" and it sounds pretty spot on.  They even use the LM308 chip.  So why would you want build one?  Because rat clones are fast becoming the new it pedal of the boutique world.

A little clipping modification here...Change a capacitor value there...And presto!  We have an all new "original" pedal.  The BYOC Mouse has a 6-way rotary switch that allows you to choose from all the must have clipping combinations.

Positions 4, 5, and 6 on the rotary switch even relocate the clipping devices to a more tubescreamer-like  position in the circuit which turn the pedal into an amazing sounding overdrive.

Position 1:  "Vintage" Symmetrical Distortion
Position 2:  "Turbo" Distortion
Position 3:  Asymmetrical Distortion
Position 4:  Symmetrical O.D.
Position 5:  Asymmetrical O.D.
Position 6:  MOSFET O.D.

General information about the BYOC set:

The kit contains all the parts you need to build the pedal. The only thing you need in addition is a soldering iron, solder and some patience. The building prosses is clearly documented by step-by-step explainations. The instructions can be downloaded fro BYOC's net pages. For this pedal, the instructions are here.

If you need more inspiration, it might be smart to check out the gallery of pedals that have been build based on the BYOC sets. Sound clips can also be found here.

Godlyd.com can not be available to help if you need support with problems in the building process but you will usually find an answer and good helfp via the BYOC forum.
